Thatch

We offer three different kinds of thatch. Two are made from coconut trees and one from a reed. All come in a box calculated to cover an area of roof. Each are shown below.

The coconut branch thatch covers 100 ft2. The branches are long so your cross-supports can be far apart. The thatch branches overlap about 2 inches. The pattern made inside the roof is exceptional.

The coconut panel thatch covers 100 ft2. The leaves have been woven into panels so are easier to assemble.

The premium thatch comes in boxes of 33 square feet. This is the same area covered by a bundle of asphalt roofing shingles. 3 bundles (or boxes) make up a "square" or 100 square feet of roof. This thatch generally lasts a few years longer than the coconut thatch. It is also woven into panels for easy assembly. Cross-supports are about 5 inches apart and panels are traditionally tied on with coconut string.

Coconut panels are quickly installed. They come in boxes which will cover about 100 square feet.

Notice that thatch can be overlapped from a few inches above as reccomended, to many inches as seen to the right. Coconut panels can be installed on either laterial or vertical supports.

Coconut branch thatch requires less structure for attachment but a bit more skill in installation. They come in boxes which will cover about 100 square feet.
