Symphony Swivel Spike
Symphony Products has produced a specialized spike specifically for the installation of the Faunagarden Modular Fencing system. It is by far the easiest and most effective way of installing a Faunagarden fence. The spike as several features that make the job easier:
- The post fits. The post holder is 3” by 3” fitting the Faunagarden post perfectly.
- It is fault tolerant. One of the challenges of putting posts in the ground using spikes is that spikes many times hit a small rock or root and end up just a little bit crooked. The Swivel Post allows the post to be straight, even if the spike is crooked. Loosen the center bolt, tilt the post until straight, and tighten the bolt.
- Assembly is easier. Install the post in the holder with the swivel loose. Place the fence panel and tip the post into place. Tighten the bolt to lock the post in place. Truly a one man operation with this amazing spike.
- Rotation is Adjustable. Again, the process of hammering a spike into the ground is never perfect. The post can be rotated 360 degrees after the spike is in place.
- Easy to pound. Because the post holder is removed and a pounding block is provided, it is easy to pound in the spike without damaging the visible post holder. Drive the spike flush with the ground, unscrew the pounding block and bolt on the post holder.
- Easy to remove. A spike driven into hard ground is almost impossible to remove. For temporary removal, simply remove the center bolt and set the post and post holder aside. Only the spike remains flush with the ground. Setup takes just a minute. For permanent removal, again unbolt the holder and post. If the spike cannot be pulled out, hammer it in below grade and cover with dirt.
- Attractive appearance. The Swivel Spike provides a curved metal base that covers the spike and gives the installation a finished, solid look.
INSTALLATION
The Swivel Spike is easy to install. You will need a sledge hammer, level, 3/4” wrench and a 9/16” wrench. Each spike comes with its own hard rubber pounding block.
- Remove post holder and screw on hard rubber pounding block. Position spike and pound in until top of spike is flush or just above grade.
- Unscrew pounding block and bolt post holder to spike. Leave bolt loose until final assembly is complete.
- Push Faunagarden post into post holder. Tighten two bolts with 9/16” wrench.
- Assemble modular panel to post and set post vertically with a level. Tighten center bolt with a 3/4” wrench.
